1849年 12月22日、ドストエフスキーの死刑が特赦された♪

フョードル・ミハイロヴィチ・ドストエフスキーは、トルストイ、ツルゲーネフと並びロシアを代表する文豪。1821年、モスクワの貧民救済病院の医師の次男として生まれ、25歳の時、処女作「貧しき人々」で、作家としてデビューする。

しかし社会主義サークルに入会したため、1849年に逮捕、死刑判決を受ける。12月22日、銃殺刑執行の直前に皇帝からの特赦が与えられ、シベリア流刑に減刑された。「死刑執行直前のクリスマス特赦」という劇的な展開は、当時の政治犯対策として仕組まれていたらしい。

刑期終了後、兵役を経て1858年に帰還。その後「罪と罰」、「カラマーゾフの兄弟」等発表、世界的な評価を得る♪

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky ( 11 November 1821 – 9 February 1881), sometimes transliterated Dostoevsky, was a Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist, journalist and philosopher.

In 22 December 1849 he was arrested for his involvement in the Petrashevsky Circle, a secret society of liberal utopians that also functioned as a literary discussion group; they were particularly interested in the works of Charles Fourier. He and other members were condemned to death, but at the last moment, a note from Tsar Nicholas I was delivered to the scene of the firing squad, commuting the sentence to ten years' hard labour in Siberia.
