30 ブラームス交響曲第２番♪

1877年12月30日に、ヨハネス・ブラームスの交響曲第２番が、ウィーン・フィルハーモニーによって初演され、大成功を収める♪

ちなみに、交響曲第1番のほうは「ベートーヴェンの交響曲第10番」と呼ばれているんだって♪   ブラームス、バッハ、ベートーヴェンは、ドイツ音楽史の「偉大なる三B」なんだ（笑

1889年、56才の時、エジソンの代理人の依頼で｢ハンガリー舞曲第1番｣を蓄音機に録音する。これは、史上初のレコーディングだった。この新時代の訪れに老いを感じたブラームスは、57才ですっかり意欲が衰え、遺書を書き身辺整理までした。

しかし、クラリネット奏者ミュールフェルトの演奏に触発されて創作意欲を取り戻し、クラリネット三重奏曲、クラリネット五重奏曲、2つのクラリネット・ソナタ、5つのピアノ小品集などの傑作を生み出したんだ♪

同時代の作曲家ではヨハン・シュトラウス2世と親交があり、ブラームスがある婦人に送った扇に、シュトラウスの「美しく青きドナウ」の一節が書かれ、さらに「遺憾ながらこの曲はブラームスの作にあらず」と書き込んでいる♪

また、ドヴォルザークの才能を見出し、支援もした。ブラームスは、彼の才能を羨んで「彼の屑籠をあされば、交響曲が一曲書けるだろう」と語ったんだって（笑

The Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73, was composed by Johannes Brahms in the summer of 1877, during a visit to Pörtschach am Wörthersee, a town in the Austrian province of Carinthia. Its composition was brief in comparison with the fifteen years it took Brahms to complete his First Symphony.

The premiere was given in Vienna on December 30, 1877 by the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of Hans Richter; Walter Frisch notes that it had originally been scheduled for December 9, but "in one of those little ironies of music history, it had to be postponed [because] the players were so preoccupied with learning Das Rheingold by Richard Wagner.


Johannes Brahms (7 May 1833 – 3 April 1897) was a German composer and pianist. Born in Hamburg into a Lutheran family, Brahms spent much of his professional life in Vienna, Austria. In his lifetime, Brahms's popularity and influence were considerable. He is sometimes grouped with Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven as one of the "Three Bs", a comment originally made by the nineteenth-century conductor Hans von Bülow.
