1912年5月5日、ストックホルムオリンピックが開幕した♪

ストックホルムは初めて日本がオリンピックに参加した大会。入場時のプラカード表記が、オリンピック史上唯一「NIPPON」だった。急遽決まった為「JAPAN」としての位置である「ITALY」と「LUXEMBOURG」の間の入場順となった。「NIPPON」の表記を決めたのは日本選手団団長の嘉納治五郎だったという。

その後1967年に、ストックホルムオリンピック開催55周年を記念する式典が開催された。開催に当たって当時の記録を調べていたスウェーデンのオリンピック委員会が、男子マラソンの金栗四三が「競技中に失踪し行方不明」となっていることに気付いた。金栗は当時熱中症で倒れ、棄権の意思表示ができなかった為だった。

オリンピック委員会は金栗を式典に招待した♪　金栗はストックホルムへ赴き、競技場内に用意されたゴールテープを切った。ゴールの瞬間、場内には「只今のタイムは54年8ヶ月6日5時間32分20秒3、これで第5回ストックホルム大会は総ての競技を終了しました」とのアナウンスが響いた♪

金栗はゴール後のスピーチで「長い道のりでした。この間に孫が5人できました」とコメントしている（笑

The 1912 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the V Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event held in Stockholm, Sweden, between 5 May and 22 July 1912. Twenty-eight nations and 2,408 competitors, including 48 women, competed in 102 events in 14 sports. With the exception of tennis (starting on 5 May) and football and shooting (both starting on 29 June), the games were held within a month with an official opening on 6 July. It was the last Olympics to issue solid gold medals and, with Japan's debut, the first time an Asian nation participated. Stockholm was the only bid for the games, and was selected in 1909.


The ceremony which commemorates 55th anniversary of Stockholm Olympic holding in 1967 after that was held. When it was held, Swedish Olympic Committee which was checking a record in those days noticed Kanekuri Shizou of a male marathon becoming to disappear during a play and to be missing "". Actually, Kanekuri couldn't break down from heat exhaustion then and express renouncement.

Therefore a goal decided to make Kanekuri do by a commemorative ceremony, and Olympic Committee invited Kanekuri to a ceremony.  Kanekuri who received an invitation went to Stockholm and cut the goal tape prepared in the field. "Stockholm meeting has ended all plays the 5th time by 3 per 20 seconds and this for 5 hours and 32 minutes per 6 days for 54 years and 8 months the time just now" in the inside of the hall at the moment of a goal, an announcement sounded. By the speech by which Kanekuri is after a goal, "It was the long distance. My 5 grandchilds were born the other day.", I'm making a comment.
