1840年11月14日は、印象派を代表するフランスの画家クロード・モネの生まれた日♪
クロード・モネは別名「光の画家」と呼ばれる程、光と色彩の変化を追求した画家♪
印象派の画家のなかでは最も長生きし、「睡蓮」↓ をはじめ多数の作品を残したんだ。
1883年4月に、パリの郊外にあるジヴェルニーに移転した。
モネはこのジヴェルニーに睡蓮の池を中心とした「水の庭」、さまざまな色彩の花を植えた「花の庭」を造ったんだ。また当時流行していた浮世絵の影響で和風な要素も取り入れたんだって♪
ジヴェルニー↓ は現在でも当時の面影を残したまま、大切に管理されてる。多くの観光客が訪れる美しいこの庭を、モネは「自分の最高傑作」と言っていたんだヨ♪
Oscar-Claude Monet (14 November 1840 – 5 December 1926) was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air landscape painting.
At the beginning of May 1883, Monet and his large family rented a house at Giverny. The house was the surrounding landscape offered many suitable motifs for Monet's work.
